Existing airports (excluding Prince George and Smithers), were assessed for their real potential to support economic growth and diversification. Limiting conditions and upgrade opportunities for physical infrastructure and services were compiled.

(COMPLETED) Smithers Regional Airport Water System Expansion Project
September 2011 – August 2012
A new 500,000 litre water cistern was constructed in May and June 2011. This cistern increased fire fighting capacity of the existing water system and allowed for further development of the airport lands.
Integrated Regional Infrastructure
- Recommendation 1: Ensuring that the region’s new and existing transportation infrastructure provides for safe, cost-effective and expeditions movement of people, goods and services and allows the region to grow to its full potential.
- Minerals and Mining
- Recommendation 2: Maintain and improve regional infrastructure to help mining activity and to strengthen the OBAC region overall.
